Ad-Blocking
Faster pages, no ads, no malvertising
What it does
Ghostery removes ads before your browser ever downloads them, so pages load faster, use less data, and won't hit you with malicious or misleading creatives.
Inside Ad-Blocking
Four blocking layers and the syntax that ties them together. Each one solves a different problem.
Network Filters (The Bouncer)
Block ad requests before the browser downloads them
Cosmetic Filters (The Cleanup Crew)
Hide what network filters can't block
Scriptlets (The Master Key)
Defeat anti-adblock and fix broken pages
Redirect Filters
Replace blocked content with safe placeholders
Extended CSS
Hide elements regular CSS selectors can't reach
Filter Syntax
The rule format Ghostery and uBlock both speak
How it works
Two layers do the work together. Network filters block ad requests before they download. Cosmetic filters hide ad slots already in the page. Scriptlets defeat anti-adblock detection, and redirect filters keep pages from breaking when something is removed.
What you get
- Faster page loads with less to download
- Less data and battery used on every site
- A cleaner reading experience without visual noise
- Protection from malvertising and misleading ads
